Northwest Colorado Rifle Elk and Mule Deer Hunts

Rifle hunters will stay and hunt primarily on the 10,000 acre Yellow Jacket Ranch, located between Meeker and Craig Colorado.  The Yellow Jacket Ranch’s diverse topography allows for excellent deer and elk hunting any time of the year.  The ranch borders the White River National forest for 8 miles along its eastern border where deer and elk can be found grazing in high alpine meadows or bedded in aspen pockets, during the early fall.  Once winter weather comes you can find animals by the hundreds migrating through the high oak brush covered ridges that make up the heart of the ranch.  When snow finally blankets most of the area you will find large herds of game taking refuge on the south facing rim rock slopes that make up the western side of the ranch.

Hunters will make their accommodations in one of the cabins located in the ranch yard.  The cabins are very clean, comfortable and an easy walking distance to the main house, where meals are served.  You will be served three gracious home style meals a day. A typical days hunt will begin with a light breakfast before daylight, you will then be assigned a guide and you and your guide will travel by vehicle to a predetermined area of the ranch for your morning hunt.  Once the wildlife activity has slowed we will return to the house for lunch and to take care of any game that may have been harvested during the morning hunt.  We will then return to the field in a similar fashion to the mornings hunt for the evening hunt and conclude the day with a large dinner, refreshments and lies about the day’s activities!

Northwest Colorado Archery  Elk and Mule Deer Hunts

Archery Elk and Mule Deer Hunters will hunt on a combination of private and public property, which allows us more mobility and options to suit each hunter’s individual needs and desires.  Our private ground on yellow jacket pass is a lush alpine setting that has a very large resident heard of both elk and mule deer.  If your day’s hunt takes you out west were we have large BLM permits we find ourselves in more sparse cedar covered rolling hills, and although hunters may not see the numbers of game that can be found on our private ground the trophy quality can be truly exceptional.  Guides and staff at Triple Track spend months in the field prior to hunting season scouting this vast area for elk and mule deer, and especially ones of trophy size.  The area's general location puts its borders along renowned trophy game management units where we are also offer hunts, however a hunt in these units can take as many as 18 years to draw.  The close proximity and similar topography of the area offer archers a unique opportunity at true trophy quality animal on an easy to acquire license.  Accommodations in the newly built Creekside Guest Cabin, located along the Williams Fork River, are a great central location and staging area for day’s hunt.  Hunters will travel from there to any number of areas by vehicle in the morning returning in the evening for a hearty meal and stories of the day.
